What people are saying about Tony and Camille

“Tony Mariano is an exceptional instructor, mentor, friend, and in our case a big brother that our oldest son never had. Over almost five years Tony invested and dedicated his time and efforts to regular sessions with our son, who despite going through unusually challenging growing and maturing pains responded with almost matched passion and dedication to the tune of never wanting to miss a lesson with Tony. In our case, Tony and his dedication to and passion for teaching classical guitar, and his unwavering willingness and selflessness to be there for his students pretty much for any need kept our son on a track that led to what will be an enriching education experience at the University of Texas.”

It is a privilege and pleasure being part of Camille ’s studio! Camille has worked with our son since 8th grade (he is currently a junior), after he studied for several years with other teachers who relocated out of state. We first learned of Camille through the University of Texas String Project, so we knew immediately she had a broad skill set available to work with a wide range of students. After meeting her, we began to understand how fortunate we would be to study with her. She has a serious classical background, having studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Butler School of Music at U.T. Austin. She has an equally impressive performance background and regularly plays both in prominent symphonies in and out of Austin and with less formal musical groups. (There’s a reason Jimmy Fallon showcased her in his title sequence as part of The Tonight Show’s 2019 Austin visit!) Most importantly, Camille is just a completely delightful person. She is kind, thoughtful, supportive, and flexible, and she develops each student based on their skills, interests and goals. She is always responsive to families with questions, whether relating to an issue in a particular piece or something more mundane like scheduling. Our family could not feel more fortunate working with a teacher – Camille is the best!

“Tony is one of the best teachers I could ever have. He constantly shows that he cares for his students and really helps all of them to improve. He's helpful, flexible, and one of the most positive people I know.”

My classes with Mrs. Sheiss have been enriching and allowed me to realize my capabilities as a violinist. She pays close attention to detail, something that I hadn’t experienced before she started teaching me. She maintains a balance of giving me enough homework without making it a stressful experience. The combination of her focus on detailed-oriented thinking, technique, and how the whole body interacts with the instrument is unique to other teachers I have had.
